Why Wil Anderson quit social media "it's given me my life back"

Wil Anderson is one of our favourite comedians. He's got a new (hilarious) book out that chronicles what he's learnt over these past few turbulent years, including how his approach to the craft of telling jokes has changed forever. We also chat about why he's decided to give up social media and his decision to take a break from medicinal marijuana. The case for stoicism —is hope overrated?

Brigid Delaney wishes she'd tapped into stoicism a lot earlier. Its principles have helped her take more risks, worry less, and find tranquility. In a new book, Brigid outlines how this ancient Greek philosophy can be applied to help you in everyday life. I loved wrestling with these ideas. Letting go of hope? Imaging my child dying via 'negative visualisation' so I live in the moment? Difficult stuff! I hope these tools are useful or spark ideas for how you can approach the challenges going on in your world right now. She laid charges on her own son to teach him accountability

How much adversity can one person face in a lifetime? Marlene Parrott from Geelong could test the limit. Her story begins in an orphanage, where she was sent when her parents were no longer able or willing to care for her. Things turned around when she met her curly-haired partner of 38-years, Dale. They had two beautiful kids. Both kids faced their own hurdles though, including drug use and tragically, Marlene's daughter Maddison was murdered in 2018. Leigh Campbell and the beauty routine "more important than brushing your teeth"

I really enjoyed hanging out with You Beauty's Leigh Campbell. After several miscarriages, Leigh decided to go down the IVF path. If you don't know, IVF can be a difficult for lots of reasons; injections, hormones, cost, and no guarantee that it'll lead to a child. Leigh documented the journey, which became more complex than she imagined when — after everything she'd been through (and almost giving up) — she became pregnant naturally. Surfing legend Layne Beachley: from liposuction to falling in love with her body

"If I had my time again, there's no way I'd go through with that," Australian surfing icon Layne Beachley tells me, referring to her biggest regret, which she also describes as a valuable lesson. "I had to change the relationship with myself and when I did that, things naturally fell into place." It was one of many moments that struck me (in between all of the surfing advice I was trying to milk!)... You'll also hear how Layne learned to stop blaming everyone else for her mistakes and why she equates motherhood with loss and how that spurred her to become a world champion. Brooke Blurton on growing up without privilege: "I did the best I could and that's enough"

Brooke Blurton is known for being the first star of the The Bachelorette to give roses to both men and women. The pansexual First Nations icon has waved the flag for representation — but how much has this responsibility weighed her down? It's a thought the 27-year-old links back to her turbulent childhood, growing up with the loss of her mother and grandmother. We talk about intergenerational trauma, her self-care routine (or lack of), and also, how she ended up on The Bachelorette in the first place. How Osher Günsberg learned to face uncomfortable feelings “the price of admission to a meaningful life”

This bloke has literally been with us in our living for about 20 years. I'm so happy to share this chat I had with television host master and all-round legend, Osher Günsberg. But what I'm more grateful for is how open he is. You might be surprised to learn a whole new side to Osher as he shares his struggles with alcoholism, fame and media attention, and mental health issues, including body dysmorphia. You'll also find out why Osher is the reason I started THIS podcast. Oh and for some reason (that I never actually found out) he starts the interview playing a melodica. Enjoy! That time a tiger shark regurgitated a human arm

My mate Jacob Stanley asked me to be a guest co-host on his podcast, Just the Gist. The show gives you 'just the gist' on incredible stories (profiles, true crime, scandals) so you sound smart at a dinner party. The story he shared with me is a doozy! It's so wild, I thought I'd share it with you here in my podcast. Shark Arm Murder Mystery: It was the afternoon of April 26th, 1935, when the largest shark ever in captivity (we’re calling her Shirley) spewed up a full human arm in front of a dozen witnesses. The arm bore a distinctive tattoo & was identified as belonging to a known Sydney criminal named Jimmy.  Hear another wild shark story from Just the Gist: https://link.chtbl.com/b1PM4esm Follow Just the Gist on insta: https://www.instagram.com/justthegistpodcast/ Follow Turia on Tik Tok: @turia_pitt or Instagram @Turiapitt Want more chats with Turia? How to process loss after stillbirth: “use the child’s name in conversation”

I invited the self-described agony aunt for teens and tweens on to talk about friendship and how we can help our kids navigate those tricky transitional years. At some point, you’re going to need a doctor. We rely on them during the toughest moments in life. But who's taking care of our doctors and other health care professionals? Introducing the inspirational farmer who Turia turns to for motivation

When you hear Sam Bailey speak you’ll understand why I was so drawn to his attitude towards life. I first came across his book while I was in recovery and I've returned to it many times since. Sam had it all planned out; the six-foot bushie was all geared up for a life on the land. Then at just 19 he became a quadriplegic. In the decades since Sam has leaned on his grit and determination to challenge expectations. Listen out for a surprise... we can’t share Sam’s story without illustrating the enduring love at the heart of everything he does.

Julia Gillard: 10 years since The Misogyny Speech

Gracious, wise, funny, and utterly JULIA. I’m so excited to bring you this chat with our country’s first female leader, former Prime Minister, Julia Gillard. As well as leadership advice, surviving male-dominated workplaces, and being a high school rebel… I asked her about how she feels about Tony Abbott now, if she wished she’d called out the sexist media commentary earlier (she does), and of course… the story behind that 'off the cuff' speech that sent shockwaves around the world. Check out Not Now, Not Ever: https://booktopia.kh4ffx.net/rnrKn5 Hear Julia Gillard's podcast: https://podfollow.com/1466658814 Follow Turia on Tik Tok: @turia_pitt or Instagram @Turiapitt.
